It's so prevalent that it borders on distracting. I didn't expect this title to stand toe-to-toe with the fidelity of Star Wars Battlefront or even Battlefield 4, but I was surprised to see so much pop-in of debris, foliage, and grass in the game's Xbox One and PlayStation 4 builds. Visual performanceLike most EA games these days, GW2 has been built in DICE's Frostbite 3 engine. This makes certain classes less fun to play if the rest of your team favors other classes too heavily. The issues with those classes come mostly from how their array of powers leave a few too many vulnerabilities open. Last year's classes remain largely unchanged-so much so, in fact, that most unlocks accrued in the 2014 game can be automatically transferred to the new one. The sequel's most noticeable change comes from an increased number of classes on both sides of the white picket fence-and it's the game's true saving grace. Each character comes with its own primary, unlimited-ammo weapon and three recharge-to-use, class-specific powers, ranging from rocket launchers to acrobatic maneuvers, bombs, healing powers, and more. Instead of hovering over a garden and placing amped-up plants to defend against a variety of silly, undead fighters, you now take direct control of a single creature on either side of the conflict and engage in one of a few types of online, third-person-shooter battling. GW2's core concept remains the same as the original-meaning the series barely resembles the popular, accessible tower-defense game it's named after. In short, everything good about the original 2014 game has gotten better, and everything bad about it has gotten worse. GW2 does a lousy job inviting players into its universe, because it wallops them over the head with a sloppily curated single-player campaign, a confusing meta-structure, and a ridiculous focus on grinding for content unlocks. That being said, I'll guide you through everything as best as I can.Platform: Xbox One (reviewed), PlayStation 4, Windowsīut boy, do EA and Popcap seem to have it in for players in search of that content. In fact, this achievement is the only one I am yet to get at the time of writing. Some of the achievements are quite the grind, especially one of which is completely RNG. Since it's one long game and everything is always open once you've unlocked it, you'll be able to complete this in one long playthrough. There are 51 achievements in this game (63 with DLC), none of which are missable. In this game, the Zombies have succeeded and turned Suburbia into Zomburbia, and it's up to the plants to force them out. In the first game, you fought as the Plants defending Suburbia from the Zombies attempts to overtake it. Set in the distant future, you play as either the Plants under Crazy Dave or as the Zombies under Dr. For one, levelling up is easier and you now have the Backyard Battleground as a base to load into games, ops and play the story (this is your menu, so you'll automatically load into here). If you played the first title, you'll find everything quite similar, but with noticeable upgrades and character changes. This is the PvZ take on the classic class-based character shooter games.

It’s your expected mix of cheesy ’70s one-hit wonders, R&B classics and rock stalwarts. So here they are, as picked by me Christy fellow 13th Dimension contributor Rob Kelly and certified musicologists Wendy Greenfield, my wife, and Sam Greenfield, my son. There are three songs revealed in trailers and clips already: Fox on the Run, by Sweet Come A Little Bit Closer, by Jay and the Americans and, The Chain, by Fleetwood Mac.Īssuming they’re all in the final cut, that leaves 10 selections. Now, with the second installment mere months away - 5/5 to be precise - it’s time to reveal our foolproof list of songs that absolutely must be in Vol. Well, the musical technicians here at 13th Dimension have been pondering this very question since the titles went dark on the first movie. 2, specifically the songs that’ll be on the soundtrack. I put out very good exceptional bodies of work instead of just a good single. “I always had a very good, exceptional album to put out. “They were so much reaching for a radio-driven record and any of my fans know that I never had radio driven records,” he added. Redman’s pro-weed raps did indeed prove to be a winning formula for the label. In 1992, Redman dropped his debut effort Whut? Thee Album and followed up with Dare Iz A Darkside in 1994 and Muddy Waters in 1996 all of which were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). But it was reaffirming the original vision of Def Jam in a powerful way.” Simmons adds, “From the time I heard it, I loved it - maybe ’cause my name is on it. That was the, I guess, the leniency of them being on top of me to put out a certain type of album that they thought would win.” After that, it was something that I wanted to earn. It brought money to the label and it brought a new light to the label. Just trust me.’ And he was like, ‘OK, let’s go.’ He released that bitch and that shit immediately went 5,000 and better. I go against the grain.’ I said, ‘Just trust me, just trust me. “I sat down with Lyor and I said, ‘Listen, this is how I work. They didn’t really have anything up at Def Jam like that. They were skeptical because I was too hardcore open with the weed talk and everything. I came in with my album, Muddy Waters, and they loved it. “They were so caught up in what they were hearing on the radio. “There was a time where Def Jam was needing a little bit of savior as far as the artists, a little bit of money,” Redman explains to DX. In 1991, Cohen and Simmons trepidatiously agreed to sign Redman to Rush Associated Labels, which fell under the Def Jam umbrella, a move he said ultimately saved the label. In a 2017 interview with Complex, Cohen called the post-Rubin era “a very scary period” and was worried he’d be the person to “fuck up Def Jam.” “We had lost our way and Redman brought us home.”įormer Def Jam President and current YouTube Head of Global Music Lyor Cohen, who headed the label for roughly 20 years, has expressed similar sentiments. “We were born and mostly lived as a hardcore label,” Simmons tells HipHopDX. Subsequently, the label was struggling to get back on course. With the invaluable assistance of co-founder Russell Simmons, who linked up with Rubin shortly after he’d established Def Jam, the label saw massive success early on.īut by the late ’80s/early ’90s, Def Jam had hit a wall - Rubin abandoned ship to form his own label Def American, the Beastie Boys had left after just one album (1986’s Licensed To Ill) and Slick Rick was sent to prison. Founded by Rick Rubin in his New York University dorm room circa 1984, the imprint launched the illustrious careers of artists such as Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Slick Rick and LL COOL J. Interview – Def Jam Recordings has long been established as Hip Hop’s preeminent label.
Antonia eventually freed Caenis.Īt some point during the 30s AD, Caenis began an affair with an up-and-coming Roman officer, Vespasian, who decades later, after several coup d’états and a civil war, became emperor, in AD 68. Armed with the information it held, the aging emperor roused himself and had his enemies executed. It was Caenis who wrote the letter that Antonia sent to Tiberius. Immensely talented and gifted with a photographic memory, Caenis served as Antonia’s personal secretary. And Antonia depended on another woman in turn, a foreigner and slave named Caenis. He was saved by a woman, Augustus’s niece, Antonia, who revealed the plot to him. Old and out of touch, Tiberius was nearly overturned by a conspiracy in AD 31. Although she didn’t live long enough to see him become Rome’s first emperor, Atia had the satisfaction of knowing that she had advanced her son from hard luck to political eminence.Ībout 75 years later, Rome was a monarchy and Augustus’s stepson Tiberius sat on the throne. Atia advised her son behind the scenes and was the first person to hail him as Caesar’s heir. When Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC he left the boy, now 18, as his posthumously adopted son. He had promise, though, and Atia made sure that he captured the attention of her overworked and single-minded uncle, Julius Caesar. He was no emperor then - just a fatherless child. When her husband died in 59 BC, she nurtured her 4-year-old son and helped him to thrive. But there are other unsung women heroes who are equally fascinating.Ītia was Augustus’s mother. Livia was wife and partner to one emperor, Augustus, and mother to another, Tiberius Boudicca led a British revolt against Roman rule and Helena was mother and advisor to the first Christian emperor, Constantine. Some of their names may be familiar, like Livia, Boudicca and Saint Helena. I'm actually surprised you preferred the mods deinterlaced image to your TVs, though deinterlacers do vary quite a bit. Ideally, users should try to find NTSC software that supports progressive scan or use homebrew to force progressive scan. There's no way around this, you can either add input lag and have nice deinterlacing or you can deinterlace with no input lag. Unfortunately this means you get combing artefacts. Firstly it deinterlaces with no input lag. Thanks for the video Alex! A few things I need to point outġ) Port at the back, we've already got the cut neater in the newer mods, but we're actually hoping to get a custom design board in February that will fit perfectly and not even need the original digital out port to be removed at all.Ģ) The deinterlacer on the board isn't meant to replace the deinterlacer in your TV or negate the need for 480p compatible games. I'm honestly more interested in the N64 HDMI mod as the composite on a stock N64 looks like. I still use the Wii-U's HD upscaler for Wii games (they are still 480p prior to upscale) and the Game Cube's stock A/V looks fabulous on my CRT and sounds great through my stereo. I may install the Homebrew softmod if it still works. My launch Wii was getting crashes and errors and I haven't touched it since I transferred the data over, but sometime I'll see if a factory reset will revive it. I transferred what I could to the Wii-U and was then able to resume the process from my Wii and finish it. Luckily the transfer went by with only a minor hiccup at 90%. My Wii was starting to fail before I transferred all my data to Wii-U. I also use an HDMI switch to pass sound to the stereo. The gaming monitor is VGA, DVI, and HDMI only. I do sort of miss using the Wii Component but my current setup has a CRT for the retro systems and a 1080p ASUS LCD gaming monitor for my modern systems. I think there was a proprietary DVI adapter or something available in Japan. Sun 24th Jan Ideally, the best solution would have been an HDMI converter that plugs into the Digital out.Afterwards, you might want to consider subscribing to our YouTube channel if you're that way inclined. With no more than the power supply and an HDMI cable you can continue to enjoy the treats of Nintendo's first solely disc-based system.Īs this is such an audio-visual component we felt was best to give you the full rundown in an audio-visual form, so check out the video below to see this beast in full swing. It's a shame that we have to have a television the size of Snowdonia just to be able to appreciate the system without the picture quality getting ruined in the process with a bus load of input lag added on top, but all that is about to change.Įnter the GameCube HDMI mod, a cacophony of chips and wires that snags the GameCube's output signal and wrangles it into a digital dream in the blink of an eye. Long-time fans of Nintendo have often harped on about the GameCube controller being one of the best controllers in gaming history, and the console it attached to first was certainly not shy of some spectacular releases.
The Corsair K100 has superior lighting too, thanks to a 44-zone LED edge lighting and per-key RGB illumination that can be setup in as much as 20 layers. These switches register key presses four times faster than standard keys and have a shallow actuation distance that makes them perfect for gaming and satisfying for typing too. Throw in Corsair's new OPX optical-mechanical key switches and you've got a seriously agile keyboard. This has various benefits, including allowing the keyboard to have four times faster throughput than other keyboards. The highlight though is the tech crammed inside, such as AXON Hyper-processing Technology which gives the K100 4,000Hz polling and 4,000Hz key scanning capabilities. An aircraft-grade brushed aluminium frame, USB-passthrough connectivity, convenient media and macro keys, easy profile switching and decent RGB lighting too. It's built with an obvious focus on quality a high-end gaming keyboard with all the features a gamer could want. It's one of the most expensive gaming keyboards around, but it's also one of the most feature-packed keyboards we've seen. If you're willing to pay a hefty price for your gaming keyboard and you want only the very best then the Corsair K100 RGB is likely your best bet.
Basically identical to a guitar looping board. Quite annoying when mixing and you want to use stereo effects on a mono recording. You are forced to create a send/buss (called an FX Track) and route your track to that. There’s no easy way to use a stereo effect on a mono track. Some tools I use so infrequently that I just want to flick-grab them with the mouse, but sometimes they’re not in the same order! I found it to be somewhat bothersome even when I was no longer looking at the toolbar to quick-count and hit the shortcut. You must click the triangle in the upper right, across from the track name.ĭid you notice something else about the last toolbar screenshots? The tools are draw in different orders!ĭespite that, the same hotkeys apply. I goofed here too! There is a hidden toolbar for the in-place editor. The missing stuff that the ‘Key Editor’ has is extremely useful and not accessible in the project window as far as I can see. Maybe these things are not particularly meaningful to you if you are not a Cubase user, but notice the difference. You are also missing a number of tools when using the in-line editor! How very annoying. Mouse-over the keys until your cursor turns in to a hand then move your cursor horizontally. There is simply no keyboard shortcut for it. You can vertically zoom in the in-line editor. Not only can you not zoom in to the notes vertically, but you are limited in overall editor height. Unfortunately, Cubase’s inline editor is fairly limited. I love using the in-line midi editor in any program. Cubase simply doesn’t allow this workflow. Folders are an integral part of keeping sessions with a lot of multitracked instruments organized. I like to save multi-track setups for instruments like drums, 5+ track guitar recordings etc. The issue is that when you save these, they do not retain folder information. There are also Track Presets, which allow you to recall a track with associated plugins and other settings.
